Google Can Help You Find Your Next Job With New Search Features

Google has announced at I/O today a series of new features coming to Search, under the name Google for Jobs. These features aim to make searching for jobs or new employees as easy as possible, by pulling listings from services including LinkedIn, Facebook, CareerBuilder, Monster, Glassdoor, and other sites.

Pichai explained "We realized the first step for many people when they start looking for a job is searching on Google, so we built a new feature in search with the goal that no matter who you are, or what kind of job you're looking for, you can find the job postings that are right for you." He reiterated that the new tools were designed to aid in your job search, no matter what your experience level or salary is.

Users searching for jobs will be able to filter their listings by commute length, date posted, hours, and thanks to machine learning results can also show jobs that are similar to each other but may use different terminology in their description. Google CEO Sundar Pichai gave the example that searching for a retail position would also return results for jobs listed under titles such as "Store Manager" or "Store Assistant" as well.

Several large companies including FedEx have already begun piloting the new platform, and have so far reportedly seen an 18% increase in applications. As a result, the list of employers using the API is growing, so we could see widespread adoption in the coming years. Users in the US should begin to see results showing up soon, with more countries to follow later.
