Huawei has officially unveiled the new Honor 9 smartphone. Just like its predecessor, the Honor 9 features powerful hardware specification at affordable price point.
The smartphone features a handy 5.15–inch Full HD display with a default DCI-P3 color space, and HiSilicon's top chipset, the Kirin 960, previously seen in flagship devices such as the Mate 9 and P10. It also comes with 6 GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB storage. The phone also has 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel dual rear camera along with the 8-megapixel front shooter. It packs a 3,100 mAh battery with fast charging support, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ac, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Huawei Pay service compatibility. The phone's dimensions are 147.3 × 70.9 × 7.45mm and the weight is around 155 grams, making it taller, narrower, thinner and heavier than its predecessor. The Honor 9 is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top, and it's very likely that the device will receive the Android O update as well though probably not in a timely manner.
The phone is made from a combination of metal and glass, just like the previous Honor 8, and comes in four color options: Blue, Amber Gold, Gray, and Black.
Honor's latest smartphone is already up for pre-order in China. Sales of the three models should start on June 16, and the pricing is known already: the Honor 9 will cost RS2,299 for 4GB/64GB model, RS2,699 for the 6GB/64GB one, and RS2,999 for the most powerful 6GB/128GB. This converts to around $340, $400, and $440 respectively. The prices should be higher outside China though, though, both through imports and when/if the phone officially makes its way to new markets.
