The Xiaomi Mi A1 is Now Available in Rose Gold in India

Xiaomi launched the Mi A1, its first Android One smartphone in India, on September 5, and soon it'll come in a new color. This week, the China-based smartphone maker announced that a Rose Gold edition of the Xiaomi Mi A1 will be available on November 21, exclusively on Mi.com.

The phone was unveiled in three colors: Black, White and Rose Gold. However, at launch, only the Black and White colors were available. At the time, Xiaomi said the Rose Gold edition would be available later in the year, and the manufacturer's finally made good on its promise.

The Mi A1 is, in many ways, the first Android One device that doesn't compromise on specifications. It boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage of internal storage, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, and a 3080mAh battery. And instead of running Xioami's in-house MIUI skin, it ships with a nearly stock version of Android 7.1 Nougat, which the company says will be updated to 8.0 Oreo update before the end of the year.

In our review of the Mi A1, we found it to be an excellent device with good performance, solid build quality, and a great camera thanks to a dual rear sensor module. Since it's an Android One device, the phone's software has minimal bloatware and crushes through everyday tasks with ease.

But the Mi A1 isn't perfect. Those who find MIUI genuinely useful might find the lack of Xiaomi utilities off-putting, especially in light of the release of MIUI 9. And the lack of kernel sources nearly two months after the phone's is a bit troubling.

Overall, though, the Mi A1 stands out in its price bracket for better-than-average specs. Here's hoping that Xiaomi sorts out the kernel source situation and fulfills its promise to roll-out the Oreo update before the end of the year.
