So I broke my Nexus 5's screen like a year ago, both the glass and the LCD are really damaged, I can barely see anything on it. The battery is damaged too.
Since I'm now rocking a Nexus 6P I don't actually need another phone, so I'm planing to give a new life to my Nexus 5 as a computer, specially now that "N" is coming with split screen and everything, I think my Nexus 5 would be a nice computer/set top box for media and navigating. I'm planning into keep both cameras pointing in different directions, in order to be able to make videocalls and also use it as a security camera and have two different angles of the room.
I wanna remove all the pieces from the device's body and rearrange them with a few LEGOS (Maybe I use the ones I got from Project Fi). My question is, can I connect a SlimPort adapter and still get the output to my TV when I turn on the device while the touchscreen is disconnected? I'm not planning to keep the screen because it's not necessary for what I'm planning to do with it, also I wanna save the battery that the screen's light uses so it doesn't drain battery while using it, because as I said, the battery is damaged too, and I can replace it, but I wanna keep the costs of this project low and the size of the device as small as possible.
If it works, I'm planning to share the results and also maybe a tutorial.
Thank's in advance!
